The weather was flawless for an ideal July weekend, as the great Shortline Shores hosted yet another spectacular Buckeye Bouy Tour stop on July 7-8! The annual Dottie T Pick Your Poison included 42 different skiers, and 12 three-eventers. Even thought it is called BBT #3, this was only the 2nd BBT of the season because BBT #2 was cancelled due to high water.
Jeff Cyphers was the slalom champ on his home site, after skiing 1 buoy at 35 off do advance into the finals head-to-head round. Rachelle (Shelly) Rogers shortened the rope into 28 off for the first time ever in the finals to solidify her top three spot. Shelly finished second, and Kevin Houser placed third. He scored above his average several passes, skiing 3 at 28 mph. Andrew Shea won trick, with a two pass score of 2160. Skylar Rogers tricked his way to second with a “surface O,” scoring higher than a previous average of just two side slides. Third place went to Alan Vollmar with 2820 points. Other high trick scores included Emily Dammeyer 3780, Keri McClure 3390, Kristen Dammeyer 3320, and Kyle Dammeyer with 2830. Sunday’s jump rounds were a success for Trace Mollet, who jumped 72 feet. Mike Rouse jumped impressively, with a 98 footer, earning himself second behind Trace. Jack Kuenning had a farthest jump of 35 feet to round up the podium. Le Rouse had the farthest jump of the tournament, flying 137 feet. View complete results here. View more photos here. Kevin Dammeyer scored the highest overall score, with 2167.4. The Buckeye Bouy Tour will return very soon. On July 14-15, the 3rd BBT of the season (called BBT #4!) will be host at Pleasant Shores in Van Wert, OH.
