Tour Stop #3 at Pleasant Shores finished up with Sunday afternoon’s jumping. Slalom was held Saturday, and skiers who won their first head-to-head matchup in slalom (which was based on handicap seeding) got to drop a Plinko Puck to select their next opponent; two wins got you into the final, and two losses knocked you out. A third, rubber round, was for skiers who went 1 and 1 in the first two rounds, but there was a catch! If you wanted to ski in the rubber round to try and make the finals you had to wear a costume, and there were plenty of good one to choose from. After all the skiing the top five in slalom were: Kevin Houser, Gina Decker, Alex Lavin, Michelle Houser, and Alexis Mishler. Alexis also won trick, with Chaz Decker and Keri McClure finishing second and third respectively. The Jump podium was Chris Caldwell in first, Chaz Decker second, and Keri McCluer in third. The weather was excellent all weekend and there were 11 jumpers, 18 trickers, and 34 slalom skiers enjoying the tournament at Pleasant Shores.

Buckeye Buoy Tour stop #2, “Team Challenge”, took place on July 1-2 at Lake Bobason in Milford Center, OH. The format was two rounds of slalom for all, with each skier being placed in a team according to their handicap (so each team had skiers who were beginners to experts), then 2 rounds of Trick and Jump. Each member of the slalom team scored points for their team based on performance against their averages. The two slalom teams with the best team scores faced off head to head in the finals, with the highest combined average scored determining the winner. The slalom team format provided some interesting results since Skylar Rogers and Jim McClure both missed their openers during both of the first two rounds, but they still found themselves in the final due to how dominant their teammates were. Amy Schneider skied three stellar rounds, after not skiing in a tournament for, she says, the past 9 years (and she showed off her Ferrari to boot). Team “Mean Green” edged out team “Buoy Monsters” after Le Rouse (Team Buoy Monsters) missed his opener in the finals after skiing great during round 2 to get his team into the finals. The winning team, Team Mean Green, contained the talents of Nick Perrino, Garnet Fowler, Jim McClure, and Jackson Lanich (Jackson skied awesome, by the way), and the runner up, Team Buoy Monsters, contained the talents of Amy Schneider, Skylar Rogers, Jeanette Van Akelijen, and Le Rouse. The Trick podium finishers (from first to 5th) were Josie Kuenning, Jack Kuenning, Kayla Hersted, and Jackson Lanik. Here is the official scorebook from the tournament. Buckeye Buoy Tour stop #1, “Bark at This” at Barking Shores and Pleasant Shores, was completed this past weekend (6/24/17 and 6/25/17). The slalom format included two rounds of slalom with an optional round 3 turn and burn ... your cash...pass, and a 6 skier finals. Skiers that "turned and burned" who failed to beat their second round score paid $10 to a cash pot, which the slalom winner took home. It was a very pleasant day, lots of sun and only about 15 minutes of rain. Andrew French had an overall lackluster performance, which was expected. Kevin Houser was able to edge out the other five finalists to win his first slalom title: Jon French, site host John Gorski, Mary Nelson, Jack Kuenning, and Keri McClure were the other slalom finalist. Chris Caldwell won jump, and Kayla McClure won trick Sunday at Pleasant Shores.
